On May 11, 2021 we will be teaching students what to do in a variety of emergency situations at school. Staff will guide students through a presentation on the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). If you have not received our previous communications about the Standard Response Protocol, or would like a reminder, you can review that here. Students will learn what their role is, and how to stay safe, if the school is directed to go into a Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter, or Hold. There will be opportunities throughout the lesson to discuss questions.
If your child has special needs that need to be considered when teaching the Standard Response Protocol or conducting practice drills, please contact their case manager or Bethany Stoddard (608) 204-1241.
IMPORTANT:
Linked below are the English and Spanish versions of the SRP lessons that we will be giving the week of May 11th! Please make sure you read the google doc linked below and if you have time with your student, please review the links within the google doc to help prepare them ahead of time! If you have any questions about this, please contact our Principal Dr. Ebbe :)

Language Arts:
After a week of Forward testing, we will be returning to routines. Next week we will be reading a final text connected to our Essential Question: What does it take to be successful? In this text we'll be learning about George Washington Carver, the American inventors, and how he used his own success to help others. After completing this final text, we will be starting our final major essay using text evidence from the 4 texts to answer the Essential Question.
Social Studies:
We are currently learning about the origins and connection between the 3 monotheistic faiths - Judaism, Christianity & Islam. As we learn about the origins, and beliefs of the various religious belief systems, students should be taking notes in their own copy of the World Religion Packets. Students will use the knowledge they gain to create a final project about one religious belief system, or comparing similarities and difference between 2 of the belief systems.
Math:
We will be digging into Chapter 2 next week in the 7th grade curriculum. We will be reviewing integers and how to work with them again!
Science:
We are in one of my favorite units “Earth’s Changing Climate” and have been talking about how we as individuals can help save the planet! We talked about reducing our electricity use, carpooling, biking, and walking when we can, instead of using electrical transportation!
Ms. Kempinen & I both feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to teach and learn with such a great group of students this year. Thank you for all kind messages this week during teacher appreciation!
