Alder East Reading -
We are performing DRA Progress Monitoring this month to observe reading rate, fluency and comprehension at various reading levels.
Students should be reading daily at home.
Please make sure students are keeping up with daily reading this week! This week is a great time to have students do some read-a-loud at home with a parent or and older sibling.
Reading Log - due Monday Feb 9th.
At Home: Students should still be doing independent reading at home - a chapter book, graphic novel, biography, or non-fiction that isn't too focused on pictures and graphic information. This year, students will track all the books they read and use that info to evaluate their reading, and set reading goals.
Alder East Writing -
This week students worked to finalize final drafts of Personal Narrative stories. For this assignment we worked on beginnings and endings, and revision strategies. Students have drafted their stories from initial sketches and outlines of events, practiced writing story beginnings with action, dialogue or setting details, and performed self and peer and edits.
