Alder East Reading -
This week, we began an in-class Novel Study - Seedfolks, by Paul Fleischman. We will be reading and doing character studies in class.
At Home: Students should still be doing independent reading at home - a chapter book, graphic novel, biography, or non-fiction that isn't too focused on pictures and graphic information. This year, students will track all the books they read and use that info to evaluate their reading, and set reading goals.
A new Reading Log went home on Friday, and is due 11/4.
Alder East Writing -
This week, students completed their Informational Essays - Invasive Species - Cause and Effect. Next week we will starting Character study comparisons based on our novel study - Seedfolk, by Paul Fleischman.
Alder East Humanities -
This week, students completed a number of surveys designed to help us examine our Multiple Intelligences. MI theory beleives that we all have many different areas of strength, and many different way we learn new skills or information - Kinesthetic, Logical/Mathematical, Naturalistic, Musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Visual/Spacial, & Verbal/Linguistic. Examining our Multiple Intellegences helps us recognize our strengths, and use them to our advantage, and also look for ways to broaden our strengths in those other areas. We are using our Multiple Intelligences to helps us set goals for the school year. We'll use these goals to examine and drive progress from Fall to Spring Conferences, to help us pick projects that fit our strengths, and to help us select Independent Projects this spring.
