Here's what is happening this week:
* Wednesday, January 31st - Field trip to Ten Pin Bowling Alley. We will leave at 8:30 am and return by 10:55 am, in time for lunch.
* Thursday, February 1st - Quarter 2 grades available on Infinite Campus - paper copies will be mailed out Friday.
Writing -
Argumentative Writing - This week we'll be reading articles about various topics, skimming for evidence, and comparing whether different sources are credible or not. Credible sources have good facts, statistics and professional opinions that we can we can use to help support our claims. By the end of the week we will be
Reading -
Reading Log - Due Monday, Jan. 29th.
Reading groups need to complete their complete their weekly reading, Literacy Circle task and a GIST/summary of the the week's reading for your meeting day.
Independent Reading:
Reading Log - due Mondays. Students are required to complete at least 150 minutes of Independent Reading each week with parent & teacher signatures for their reading times. Logs are due each Monday. Since we are studying fiction, Independent Reading books should be novels, stories or biographies (including graphic novels) - books that tell a story, have plot, and develop characters, so that we can practice the skills we are developing in class.
Students should have a book/E-book for class each day, either from home or from the library.
Social Studies -
Monday we will finish Egyptian Social Class presentations and turn in your Chapter 9 packets. Next, we begin learning Chapter 8 about some of the most important Pharaohs and their main accomplishments while we learn about their ages of ancient Egypt: The Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom.
