Thursday, Nov. 21 - Picture Retake Day
Science -
We have begun Unit 2 - Metabolism. Students are learning that cells need glucose and oxygen molecules from food and air in order for the body to function. Students will learn through evidence and explanation that that low levels of glucose in the cells likely indicate that the digestive system is not breaking down starch into glucose to go into the cells. This week, we are studying 4 conditions that affect either the Respiratory, Digestive or Circulatory system. Medical conditions can affect a body system which limits cells getting the molecules that they need - glucose, amino acids or oxygen. The goal is to see if the symptoms of any of these conditions fit the symptoms of our patient, Elisa.
Social Studies -
This week, we learn more about Ancient Egypt by learning about 4 Pharaohs from the Early, Middle and New Kingdom. We will examine the monuments that they left behind, and see what we can learn about them and their times.
