The Book Fair begins Friday 5/26 and runs until Friday 6/2. Stop by and shop before or after school. I've heard there is a really good selection, including some of next year's OBOB titles. Students can also get signed up for the Scholastic Summer Reading Program with virtual and real rewards for summer readers.
Remember, if MRA sells 500 books, we can get upto $1,000 in free books to add to our school library.
More info can be found at Mrs. Quinlan's Mountain Meadow Media Center Blog.
PS. The Book Fair will be open during Dougnuts for Dudes, so check it out!
PSS. I will also have a small bin of "Wishlist" books that we'd love to add to our Alder East classroom library.
Doughnuts for Dudes - June 2nd at 8am in the Wild Woods Gym. Look for invites coming home this week.
In the classroom:
There is quite a bit going on:
5th Grade Math - We finished our Multiplication and Division unit, and will be learning more about multiplying and dividing whole numbers and fractions. We also have a cumulative end-of-year assessment next week.
Reading - Island of Blue Dolphins - Chapter 7-8 reading and packet completed by Tues. 5/30.
We are also completing end-of-year Developmental Reading Assessments (DRAs).
Writing - We're working on Narrative Fiction stories inspired by a true memory. We're developing characters, exploring story arcs and story climaxes using "Story Mountains," we're also looking at action, dialogue and setting to tell our character's story. Final stories will be due 6/5.
