I’m Mr. Towe (Mr. T) and I’m really happy to be meet you and your student.
A little about me:
- This is my 3rd year at Cherokee.
- Last year I taught Language Arts & Social Studies, this year I am teaching Science & Social Studies.
- I grew up in Montana, and lived in Portland, Or for 20 before coming to Madison.
- My son is starting Kindergarten this year.
- I love to ride bikes and play hockey, and play the drums.
This week students will to follow their Core subject schedules, including Science & Social Studies with Mr. Towe, Math with Ms. Huberty, and Language Arts with Ms. Gottsacker. In my class students will alternate between Social Studies on A Days, and Social Studies on B Days,
Monday is a B Day, so we're beginning with Science.

Science -
This week students are beginning a unit on Microbiomes. In this unit, students take on the role of student researchers as they work out and explain how a patient suffering from a potentially deadly infection might be cured by a transplant of gut bacteria from a healthy donor. In the process, they learn to examine living from molecules to single-celled organisms to the overall human body.
Social Studies -
To start the year student are going to learn about the 5 themes of Social Studies, and begin our examination early cultures by learning how and why humans transitioned from hunter gatherers into farmers.
