- Mr. Towe's and Ms. K's homerooms will visit Aldo Leopold on Tuesday, Oct. 29th.
Science -
Students completed our Microbiomes unit by completing a scientific argument writing arguing the benefits of Fecal Bacteria Transplants using evidence and reasons collected in our studies.
This week we will begin Unit 2 - Metabolism. Students will learn that cells need glucose and oxygen molecules from food and air in order for the body to function. Students will learn through evidence and explanation that that low levels of glucose in the cells likely indicate that the digestive system is not breaking down starch into glucose to go into the cells. Finally we will examine how glucose and oxygen molecules undergo a chemical reaction within the cell, called cellular respiration, that releases energy.
Social Studies -
In our study of Chapter 5 - Ancient Sumer students will learn about the characteristics of civilization (food supply, social structure, government, religion, arts & technology) and analyze artifacts to determine how each characteristic was exhibited in ancient Sumer. This week we will look at social structure, government and religion.
