Here's what is up this week:
Language Arts -
Welcome to Quarter 2. We're finished with our fiction writing unit. This Quarter we'll be concentrating on Informational Writing, which includes Description, Order and Sequence, Compare and Contrast, Cause and Effect, and Problem and Solution. We'll begin this week with a project to help us learn about these different types of Informational Writing, how to identify them, and what they used for.
Reading Groups-
This week in Reading Groups, we'll be exploring Achieve3000 and the 5-step Literacy Routine, and weekly expectations.
Social Studies -
We're beginning our Egypy Unit by studying Chapter 7 - Geography and the Early Settlement of Egypt, Kush & Canaan. In our study of Mesopotamia we learned why people left the hills to settle in the river valleys where there was more land for farming, and how they solved the geographical challenges of a steady water supply, and lack of natural defenses. Our guiding question for the settlement of Egypt is: How did Geography affect early settlement in Egypt, Kush & Canaan? In other words, why did people chose these places to build their communities?
