- Language Arts - Tues & Wed - May 8 &9

Writing -
Last week students chose a global issue they care about, and found news articles about their topics. While close reading their articles, students highlighted important words and phrases which they are using to create FOUND POEMS about their issue.
This week, students will finish their found poems, and begin writing a PSA (Public Service Announcement) about their topic in preparation for Madison Public Library Bubbler program. Students will use iPads & Stop-Motion Animation to make short videos about their global issue.
Reading Groups - We'll be ending the year by doing book reports about our final books. Students will have some options for different ways that they can create their final book projects.
Independent Reading - Reading Log - Due Monday, May 7.
Students are expected to complete at least 150 minutes of Independent Reading each week with parent/guardian signatures for their reading times. Reading Logs are a tool to encourage students to grow as independent readers. Many studies show that independent reading is a key skill linked to academic success. Please encourage students to read weekly outside of school whether it be novels, informational books, graphic novels, magazines, blogs, or fan fiction.
Social Studies -
Last week, we examined 4 forms of government in Ancient Greece - Monarchy, Oligarchy, Tyranny, and finally, Democracy. This week we'll comparing Greek city-states of Sparta & Athens.
