Here's some updates from all of our Team teachers - Huberty, Accomando & Towe.

ELA - from Mr. Accomando
Hey from Mr. Accomando's ELA!
We wrapped up the Debate Unit this week with a virtual debate final on a Flipgrid. All the assignments and the final are still available for completion on Google Classroom. Please make sure to check to see if all work it turned in and the final is submitted. Students are encouraged to respond to one another with counterpoints. Thanks to all those who took part, participation is key!
We will be starting our Research Projects next week. Students will be selecting a topic to conduct research on and will finish up the year with presentations. The presentations can take on many different forms and will be a reflection of student interests. Enjoy the weekend!
Science - Mon/Tues - from Mr. Towe
*Please take a moment to have students check Infinite Campus for missing assignments.
In Chapter 2 we are looking at how energy enters and leaves Earth's atmosphere. Can changes in the Sun's energy explain the rising temperatures and melting ice we have observed? I will be assigning Lesson 2.2. Assignments will be posted in Google Class on Monday with tutorial videos for each activity. Students will have Mon-Tues to work on the lesson, and Friday work day if they have not finished. I will grade work on Monday and Tuesday of the following week.
Social Studies - Wed/Thurs - from Mr. Towe
This week we'll be completing Chapter 26 -Section 2 & 3, where we learned about two types of governments that were tried in ancient Athens - Monarchy, where the governing power is in the hands of one person, usually a king, and Oligarchy, where the ruling power is in the hands of a group of aristocrats, rich men who had inherited land from their families. I'll be posting the assignments with Tutorial videos in Google Classroom on Wednesday. Students will have Wednesday & Thursday, with Friday as extra time if needed. I will grade work on Monday and Tuesday of the following week.
Distance Learning Expectations - Students are expected to be checking school email, and Google classrooms FOR ALL OF THEIR CLASSES daily (Mon-Fri). This is how they get updates about classwork and assignments. All teachers have daily "office hours" when they are available to help students over Zoom, email or phone.
Attendance - attendance will be taken each Friday by EACH Teacher. Students are expected to make contact with EACH teacher in order to not be marked absent for the week. Contact may include- emails, Flipgrids, Zooms, phone or text, or completion of assigned work. If a student doesn't make contact with a teacher they may be marked absent. Please make sure your students are in contact with their Core subject teachers (Huberty, Accomando, Towe) and their UA teachers every week.
Reminder about Distance Learning
If you or your student are having any challenges with assignments, technology, emotional support or any other needs please let us know and we will do everything we can to solve the problem and support you and your students.
All of our team teachers have daily office hours from 8:30-12:30. Parents or students can email, or zoom with teachers during that time. Any emails received after 3:30 pm will likely not be returned until the following work day.
