Social Studies -
Last week we started Chapter 10 - The Kingdom of Kush. Kush was an African kingdom and the southern neighbor of Egypt. Kush and Egypt had a complicated relationship that sometimes was friendly, and sometimes not.
Science -
This week we will finish our hands-on Microscope unit. We finished last week making observations seeking evidence of life in pond water. While everyone found plant life evidence and plenty of dirt and sand, a few classes had success finding "movers," single-celled organisms that live in the water. Our unit builds on and reinforces students’ understanding of organisms and the scale of living things. In this unit, students identify characteristics of living things, make multiple observations of different materials and items, and then use the 7 characteristics of life to make a scientific argument to prove what makes something living or nonliving.
